Melissa Rivers news has reported that the daughter of Joan Rivers will hold a Thanksgiving dinner at the luxurious $35 million Upper East Side property of the late "Fashion Police" host.
According to a report from Page Six, Joan Rivers' penthouse apartment was once described as "where Marie Antoinette would have lived if she had the money."
The' $35 million, 5,000-square-footproperty boasts of gold pillars, gold-lined walls, gleaming chandeliers and stacks of index cards with jokes from her long career.
Melissa Rivers is said to have kept Joan Rivers' apartment "exactly as it was in her memory", following the TV icon's untimely death last September.
It was reported that Libyan dictator Col. Moammar Khadafy wanted to rent the property for $200,000 a week. The late comedienne joked about the news, which took place in 2009: "I thought it was great. I said I would give half the rent to Lockerbie (and the other half) to have an exterminator come and clean the apartment when he was done."
According to Melissa Rivers' news from Page Six, the 44-year-old daughter of the late comedienne will honor her mother with the celebration.
A source explained: "Melissa is hosting the dinner in honor of Joan, and to continue a tradition she did every year."
The insider added: "Joan would welcome her friends, relatives and anyone who might not have family members in New York to a Thanksgiving dinner at her home." Guests from Joan Rivers' previous Thanksgiving parties included Nancy Jo Sales of Vanity Fair, Lynne Koplitz of "Joan Knows Best", and family members such as Melissa Rivers' son Cooper and niece Caroline Waxler.
"Her table seats 50 people, and each year everyone had to stand up and tell the table what they were thankful for," the source added.
While still mourning Joan Rivers' death, the insider added that Melissa Rivers "wants the occasion to be a happy one, to remember her mother and everything she did for other people."
After Thanksgiving, Melissa Rivers is expected to be busy with the case against the people believed to be responsible for Joan Rivers' death.
According to an earlier Melissa Rivers news report from New York Daily News, the distraught daughter will proceed with filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy. The Upper East Side clinic is allegedly responsible for the TV icon's untimely passing.
