Chris Pratt is on a roll, thanks to his break-out movie Guardians of the Galaxy. The sequel will be shown earlier than expected which means it is already on its planning stage. At least in terms of the movie's plot, rumors are circulating that Pratt's character Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord will finally get to know his father.
Meanwhile, following the recent announcement of Marvel on the Blu-ray and DVD release of Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Director James Gunn revealed in his interview with MTV that GOTG 2 will have nothing to do with The Avengers: Infinity War, contrary to some people's expectations.
What made Guardians of the Galaxy 2 stand out and as a result became the 2nd highest grossing film of 2014 to date, was its story being totally separated from the rest of Marvel properties. There may be a few scenes which moviegoers were able to connect to other Marvel franchises, such as the cameo appearance of Thanos, some familiar aliens that were seen but only for a brief moment, the Infinity Stones, and the Collector. Other than that, the Guardians of the Galaxy was considered to have a story that was "self-contained." And Director Gunn is reportedly going to have the same recipe for success in the movie's 2nd installment.
"I don't feel beholden to that stuff at all. I think it's really about the Guardians and what they are doing. We're not subservient to the Avengers. Guardians 2 is not a movie that's made to move toward [The Avengers:] Infinity War. It's something that's made to move toward future cosmic movies, so I don't feel that that is something that affects me that much," the director remarked.
For those of you Marvel fans who somehow expect of a crossover from some of your beloved Marvel superheroes in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, you may be disappointed, as Gunn has made it clear that the movie will have an entirely different plot. But who knows, he may throw in some clues in some scenes of what is to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Chris Pratt's first Guardians of the Galaxy movie is now on blu-ray and DVD and will be available for purchase on December 9. Meanwhile, his movie sequel is scheduled to hit the big screens on May 5, 2017.
