Bethesda Files Trademark With Its Famous Pip Boy Device: A Clue For Fallout 4 Release?

| By

After rumors and rumors surfacing the internet about Fallout 4 release date, another report about Bethesda; Fallout gameplay developer, filing trademark for its famous device came out.

November 5, Bethesda was reported to file for trademark for Pip Boy device, which is part of the Fallout Universe at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Which is supported by the company's official twitter account, by way of Pete Hines; vice president of Bethesda Softworks, that confirmed that the Pip Boy filing is one of theirs:

Re: https://t.co/tabTO1bfFt RT @DCDeacon not a hoax. our filing. just protecting our trademark. also helps in dealing with infringement stuff

- Bethesda Softworks (@Bethblog) November 10, 2014

In line with this, YouTuber, MrMattyPlays has posted avideo speculating on the tweets by Bethesda media man Pete Hines that Bethesda is preparing for an announcement.

The conversation below took place on Twitter which raises speculation with regards to Fallout 4 release date:

@LovelyClam I'm not going to give a timeframe

- Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) November 23, 2014

@LovelyClam I've been asked not to give any context or specifics so I'm not going to - Pete Hines (@DCDeacon) November 23, 2014

However, the Pip Boy filing seems just a routine renewal of a trademark and does not offer any clues pertaining to when Fallout 4 is to be announced.

These recent confirmations and debunking though mark a change of policy from Bethesda, who previously would stick to the "we don't comment on rumour and speculation" line.

As previously reported, Erik Todd Dellums, the voice behind Fallout game's character Three Dog, tweeted that Three Dog will have a comeback on the "Fallout 4." The voice actor somehow admitted that Bethesda gave permission to his spill and claims that Bethesda instructed him 'what he can and cannot discuss in public'.

Until now, there has been no official confirmation yet from Bethesda, the game's franchise developer.
