Ferguson Shooting Police Officer Who Shot Michael Brown Says He Just Wants To Live A Normal Life But Safety Is Not Assured Anymore

| By

The police in the middle of the Ferguson shooting says he and his family are just 'normal people' who only want to live a normal life. Darren Wilson, 28, claims he never had a moment of peace ever since the highly publicized case that he's involved in. Wilson is accused of shooting Brown to death despite the latter already having expressed his desire to surrender. The case became a national news and divided the United States in many ways. The higher court ruled that Wilson will not be tried, which lead to more protests and civil unrest in the Missouri city.

For Wilson, the civil unrest that has taken over Ferguson has given him sleepless nights, and always will.

"You're always looking, wondering if someone recognized you, if someone's following you," Wilson said during an interview on ABC's World News. "I take precautions wherever I go. From where you sit at a restaurant to where you drive. Everything runs through your head."

It even came to a point that he has to disguise himself as someone or else he will be recognized as the police officer in the center of the Ferguson shooting controversy.

"I did have a beard for a little while," he said. "It was uncomfortable."

Wilson is also aware that with the way Ferguson shooting has turned out, his life in the police department could be over now.

"That was the job of my life. I loved it. It's over now," he said. "Do you think it'd be safe for me? Or for the other officers?"

As for his life as a private citizen, he is aware that he has no choice but to move on.

"I want to live a normal life. It's going to be different. There'll be a new normal, but we'll find it somehow. I would love to teach people. I'd love to give them more insight on uses of force. Anything that I can get out of this career that I've had thus far and the incident, I'd love to give someone else."
