After being dropped by Sony Pictures, it hasn't taken Universal Pictures long to pick up the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, less than a week in fact, and the film company has decided to cast Michael Fassbender as the late Apple co-founder.
The film will be directed by Danny Boyle (127 Hours), however the script will be written by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to have a budget of more than $30 million.
Seth Rogen is reportedly in talks to play Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Christian Bale was one of the first big names linked to star the role of Steve Jobs, but the Batman Movie actor turned down the role "after much deliberation and conflicted feelings."
Fassbender has tackled varying roles throughout his career, playing a sex addict in drama Shame, a superhero in X-Men and a robot in Prometheus.
Academy Award-winning director Steve McQueen considers the 37-year-old to be one of the best "three or four actors" alive.
"There is no one like Michael out there right now," McQueen previously said in a statement. "And there hasn't been, for me, since Marlon Brando. There's a fragility and a femininity to him, but also a masculinity that can translate. You're not in awe of him. You're part of him. He pulls you in."
The new movie is based on Walter Isaacson's biography Steve Jobs which was released in 2011.
In 2013, a Steve Jobs Biopic was also released, which starred Two And A Half Men Actor Ashton Kutcher.
