The new Cinderella 2015 trailer definitely has fans jumping up and down with joy.
The full trailer shows the audience of what to expect, and it seems like the movie will really stick to the exact story of the fairytale, no dark plot twists whatsoever, and that's how the fans would want it to be. This is after numerous remakes of the famous Disney fairytales have been making a killing in the recent movie lists, all with some twisted plot line hoping to make the story more interesting, but fans are tired of seeing the same style with fairytale remakes, and they've been aching for an honest remake that would just simply be pure to the story.
In the Cinderella 2015 Trailer, we can see Cate Blanchett playing Cinderella's evil stepmom, and she does so beautifully. Helena Bonham Carter is also part of the cast. She plays the Fairy God Mother, a little bit different from her previous roles which has always been a dark character, leaning towards the antagonist of whatever film she is in. Although she still plays a mythical creature, it's good to finally see her on the protagonist's team. Here she is dressed in something white (a little hard to get used to after all her black ensembles in her previous movies), looking all sparkly and seemingly kind. Cinderella is played by a newcomer Lily James, who is set to get her big break with this film. With Cate Blanchett and Helena Bonham Carter by her side, how can she not get her big break with Cinderella?
During an interview with E! News, director Sir Keneth Branagh had this to say when asked about what he thinks of Cinderella: "There was talk way back about redefining goodness as a superpower and kindness in the same way. I think it can be very active and charismatic and compelling, but it needs to be lightly done. This Cinderella, she's not empowered in the sense of being adversarial or self-pitying or victimized. She makes her own choices and she doesn't indulge in her own pain or have any regard for her own hardships. She's generous of spirit, and we needed that in the actress. Lily has great generosity of spirit, which really you can't fake. I think the audience will intuit that. She is good company. She's un-showy, yet she's charismatic. And she wants to enjoy herself! She takes the blows in the movie. There's loss-the loss of loved ones. There's the cruelty and ignorance of other people. She knows love can be fleeting and so she's determined to enjoy it. Underneath all of that comes this sense of fun and this sense of humor. I think she's fun and funny."
