According to results from the June 2012 American Consumer Satisfaction Index, McDonald's ranked last in terms of satisfied customer service. Those right behind it include Burger King, KFC, Starbucks, Taco Bell, Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Wendy's, and Dunkin' Donuts, listed the ACSI results.
The study was conducted, according to the American Consumer Satisfaction Index page, as an aggregate of a representative number of customer interviews from each of several hundred franchises and small markets within the industry, and McDonald's was ranked worst in the Limited-Service Restaurant category. The news about McDonald's is hardly news, however, as they have been ranked last almost consistently since 1995, Yahoo! Reported.
McDonald's commented on the result shown from the study.
"At McDonald's, customer satisfaction has, and continues to be, a top priority. We take all customer feedback seriously," McDonald's issued in a statement in response to the findings, as told by Yahoo! "Our internal and third-party research shows that we continue to make progress in satisfying our customers. Business results also reinforce this. In fact, the producers of the American Customer Satisfaction index said that McDonald's customer satisfaction is at an all-time high. Still, we know we can do more by continuing to offer our customers great value, menu variety and a positive service experience every time they visit our restaurants."
The survey did show that despite some of the dismal results, fast food satisfaction was up by 1.3 percent from last year. The survey was taken by 250 customer interviews from more than 70,000 annually-conducted surveys, said Yahoo!
The results of the survey for fast-food chains are as follows, from least satisfied customers to most:
1. McDonald's - 73% customer satisfaction
2. Burger King - 75% customer satisfaction
3. KFC - 75% customer satisfaction
4. Starbucks - 76% customer satisfaction
5. Taco Bell - 77% customer satisfaction
6. Domino's Pizza - 77% customer satisfaction
7. Wendy's - 78% customer satisfaction
8. Pizza Hut - 78% customer satisfaction
9. Dunkin' Donuts - 79% customer satisfaction
10. Little Caeser - 82% customer satisfaction
