Xiaomi Redmi Note is finally In India! What seemed to be a casual invitation from the Chinese tech giant to the press in India last November 24 was actually the official launch of the much awaited phablet. And an even better news was announced that the said gadget is priced at Rs 8,999! It was also revealed yesterday that Xiaomi will release a 4G-LTE variant of the Redmi Note to be priced at Rs,9,999 which used to be the rumored price of the original device. What a great way to end the calendar year for the Indian market!
Redmi Note will be available on December 2, and only through flash sales via Xiaomi's official e-dealer FlipKart. Potential buyers will be able to register for the December 2 flash sale only after 6PM IST on November 25, which is the last flash sale of the top seller Redmi 1S. There has been no confirmation from Xiaomi as to how many Redmi Note will be available on December 2, but we are guessing it will release only a conservative number to feel the market demand for the said device. Unlike the Redmi Note, however, the Redmi Note 4G will be available also in Airtel stores in 6 cities, which will become available by second half of December. The buyer will have to register separately to be able to grab hold of the 4G version from Airtel stores.
The Redmi Note comes with a 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel screen resolution with 267 ppi. It is run by a 1.7GHz MTK6592 octa-core processor Mali-450MP4 GPU, and comes with 2GB RAM. Moreover, it is supported by a dual SIM-card with an 8GB internal storage. Its microSD card can be expanded up to 32GB. It has GPS+AGPS, GPRS, and comes with 3G, Wi-fi and bluetooth connectivity, powered by a 3,200 mAh battery Li-ion Polymer battery. It runs on Android 4.2.2 with Xiaomi's MIUI v5 skin on top. The Redmi Note has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.
Meanwhile, Redmi Note 4G runs on a 1.6GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 CPU and comes with 2GB RAM. It is also only a single SIM device, running on android 4.4.2 KitKat having the same MIUI v5 skin. Other than that, both devices share the same specifications and features.
