The much awaited phablet, Redmi Note is arriving in India! Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has already invited the press for a media event yesterday, Monday, which marked the launch of the much awaited phablet to the Indian market, as reported by NDTV, who got to see a copy of the said invite.
Xiaomi held an online contest via its official Facebook page last Thursday, as part of a teaser for the said launch. The post read, "Convince Mi you want a Redmi Note." Moreover, the Facebook post also asked fans to share the said post, after which they tag a friend and submit an image, which can be a click or a design/ drawing by the user. "Show us your creative side and win a Redmi Note from Mi! We'll select one more winner with each 500 extra shares of this post - max 3 winners." The online contest ended Friday (November 21) 9pm IST.
According to Techolic, Redmi Note will be available in India a week after the November 25 flash sale of Xiaomi's top seller Redmi 1S. "Redmi Note would be sold starting December 2 as Xiaomi and Flipkart sells Mi smartphones via flash sale every Tuesday at 2pm, where you need to be registered to be able to participate for the same. We are quite confident of the release date," the website remarked. This must be a confirmation that Xiaomi Redmi 1S flash sale on Tuesday will be the last sale for the said device, in order to make way for the more high-end Redmi Note.
Furthermore, Xiaomi has confirmed the new phablet's specifications on an advertisement page. The Redmi Note comes with a 5.5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel screen resolution with 267 ppi. It is run by a 1.7GHz MT6592 octa-core processor Mali-450 GPU, and comes with 2GB RAM. Moreover, it is supported by a dual SIM-card with an 8GB internal storage. Its microSD card can be expanded up to 32GB. It has GPS+AGPS, GPRS, and comes with 3G, Wi-fi and bluetooth connectivity, powered by a 3,200 mAh battery Li-ion Polymer battery. The Redmi Note has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.
