Design and Display
The HTC Desire 820 carries a resemblance from its predecessor HTC Desire 816. Its unibody design is made up of glossy polycarbonate with rounded corners and sides. It has a dimension of 157.7x78.7x7.7mm and weighing 155grams. It sports a large 5.5inch 720p screen display with 271ppi.
While the Samsung Galaxy S5 stepped it a notch to feature a 1080p Super AMOLED screen display and there is a little difference in the screen size as the Samsung S5 pulls off a 5.1 inch super AMOLED with a full HD 1920x1080 pixel resolution. This should result in a pixel density of 430 pixels-per-inch (ppi).
Hardware and OS
The Desire 820 is one of the few Android phones that runs in 64-bit processor. It is powered byan octa- core with a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 and quad core 1GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. It is supported by a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset that is 64-bit capable. Backed by a 2GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU which is higher than of the Samsung Galaxy Mega's Adreno 306.
The Galaxy S5 has a powerful processor of Snapdragon 600 processor and a great device to those who loves to multitask: play games, browse the internet and stream their favorite shows/video. S5 carries the upgraded Adreno 330.
Both phones also share the same 16GB of internal storage and a 32GB variant for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and expandable external memory up to 128GB via a micro sd slot.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 originally runs on Android 4.2 Jellybean, can be updated to Android 4.4.4 Kitkat. It is also rumored that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop soon. While the HTC Desire 820 runs in Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with the latest HTC Sense 6 UI
Camera
Meanwhile, S5 offers a 16MP Camera with ISOCELL technology, which makes it a better camera phone than S4's 13MP camera. Also, S5 is one of the few devices that gives you the option of 4k video recording. Well, that means it can produce high quality videos.
The HTC Desire 820 sports a 13 mega pixels rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, HDR, HD video and image recording. Its 8MP front camera offers high quality images and best for a selfie snapper.
