In Gomez' performance, the audio of a pre-recorded phone conversation, as also heard in the single's music video, played. Gomez then shut her eyes in preparation for her song. "When I was on stage and I was thinking of... I know him though, and I know that I know his heart, and I know what he wouldn't do to hurt me."
Gomez then started to sing emotionally before a range of celebrity audience. Her performance was at that time was very raw while singing the lyrics: "Hand over heart, I'm praying, that I'm gonna make it out alive." There was also a video of a shadow of a guy with his palms against a clouded glass panel, which everybody assumed was her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. As the song ended, hereyes teared up and soon began to cry.
The young singer had recently opened up in On Air with Ryan Seacrest that her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber is a fan of her new single. Gomez said of Bieber, "He thought it was beautiful. I think it was really hard. I think he was a little jealous of the video guy at first," she quipped. "Honestly, music is an expression, and if you will be that voice for these girls, there are some people that feel this. This is universal." Aww.. what do you guys think?
