The How to Get Away with Murder winter finale saw its ratings go up compared to previous episodes. According to Nielsen TV ratings, the new ABC series attracted 9.82 million viewers, completely dominating NBC's Parenthood and CBS' Elementary at the 10 PM time slot. While the ratings has gone up, viewers will get to see each character involved in the murder and cover up go down when the show resumes.
(Warning: Major How to Get Away with Murder spoiler ahead) Alas, it is revealed. Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) was the one who killed Sam (Tom Verica) using the trophy from Annalise Keating (Viola Davis). The other members of Keating 5 except Asher Millston (Matt McGorry) were all there and helped Wes cover-up the crime. They had a difficulty coming up with small decisions while hiding the body and those misunderstanding will get bigger once the show returns next year.
In an interview with TV Line, How to Get Away with Murder creator Peter Nowalk said that the group will be divided because of the events that took place during the winter finale.
"You can expect high drama. There are different allegiances. There are trust factors. There are people playing for their own survival," Nowalk said when asked what to expect when How to Get Away with murder resume for the second half of its first season.
"There's also groupthink. So it's messy, that's what I'll say. Whether it gets ugly or dark, everyone will see eventually, but it definitely gets very messy and complicated, and the tensions are running high between every character. All of their previous relationships get turned on their heads."
So who are going to become allies? What will be Asher's role after being kept in the dark? Annalise and Wes seem to be in cahoots in hiding Sam's body. Will they stay as that in further How to Get Away with Murder episodes?
How to Get Away with Murder returns on January 29 next year.
