Months ago, production for the 24th James Bond film said they were looking for the perfect henchman to put up against Daniel Craig onscreen. The description specifically wanted someone who was large, physically fit, and "unusual" to play a character named Hinx.
Here's the casting call (via mstarz):
"We are looking to follow in the tradition of JAWS and ODDJOB in finding an iconic baddy.
Hinx (Male, 30 - 45)
Ideally over 6? 2?. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.
Height: 180cm - 195cm"
The actor who reportedly bagged the role is none other than 'Guardians of The Galaxy' actor and WWE star Batista AKA Dave Bautista. It seems that Dave will be getting a lot more screen time following GOTG's success.
A few months back, it was rumored that Rihanna was signing on to participate in the latest installment for a cameo and also the movie's theme music. A source told Sunday Times (via IGN) that "Rihanna is a big fan of the Bond films and has always loved the idea of appearing in one,"
A new rumor has come up, now with British singer Sam Smith's name attached to it. A New York Post Page Six gossip section is claiming that the crooner will be in charge of the James Bond 24 theme song; contradicting last month's rumor that Lana Del Rey will do the title track. Both Del Rey and Smith have yet to publicly confirm or deny the rumors.
Daniel Craig reprises the role as MI6 secret agent James Bond in the upcoming 24th installment, as will Skyfall director Sam Mendes. The director decided to accept the film after a series of offers from the producers of the franchise.
Also slated to return are 007's fellow agents MI6 secretary Miss Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), weapons and gadgets wizard "Q" and Ralph Fiennes who could possibly serve as the new "M", who will serve as Daniel Craig's Bond's boss in future films.
