Bacardi announced the release of two new flavored rum drinks to their brand - the Bacardi Wolf Berry, containing blueberry and wolfberry/goji berry, and the Bacardi Black Razz, with raspberry and black sapote alcoholic mixes.
The Wolf Berry blend, according to a release issued by Bacardi U.S.A, Inc, on Wednesday, will be more sweet and tangy, like the wolfberry, while the Black Razz will have a rich, chocolate-like taste courtesy of the black sapote, a type of persimmon.
"BACARDI is committed to providing consumers with new and exciting flavor combinations that consist of unique ingredients with dynamic tastes," Toby Whitmoyer, vice president and brand managing director, rum category, at Bacardi U.S.A., Inc, stated for the press release.
"As the world's most popular rum, BACARDI holds a leadership position when it comes to creating new innovative flavor combinations that blend the very popular, well known flavors with more exotic ones that are gaining momentum like wolfberry and black sapote, diversifying and adding color to the palettes of our consumers," Whitmoyer said.
In addition to the new drinks' release, Bacardi changed their packaging for the rum brands. Bacardi will debut new packages with breakthrough temperature and light activated bottles, said the press release. When the two new flavors are chilled, the Wolf Berry bottle reveals a red claw mark across its label, while the Black Razz displays an enlarged red berry logo on its bottle.
Both drinks will be available in the 750 ml bottles at a suggested retail price of $14.99, as well as various other sizes including 50 ml, 200 ml, 375 ml, 750 ml, 1 liter and 1.75 liters, listed the press release. The two new flavors, suggested the press release, could "be chilled and served as shot drinks or mixed with lemon lime soda."
The two new flavors, like all Bacardi drinks, are produced in Puerto Rico, and created in a five-step distillation process, then aged in American white oak barrels, and filtered five times for high quality and smoothness, noted the press release. The Bacardi brand has been making spirits since 1892.
