| By

Some might think that Nokia is dead as a Handset maker brand but they are planning to come back in the market with mobile phone.

According to Reuters Networks equipment maker Nokia will come back might not be as a manufacturer but at least as a brand name.

Nokia's chief executive Rajeev Suri said this Friday "I think you can expect our brand will return to the consumer world"

Rajeev Suri said in a conference at London that his company will look to licensing the brand name to other firms rather than starting up a new handset business itself. "We see brand licensing as an opportunity ... But I would say it is more of a long-term opportunity,"Suri is planning to sell its brand name to other electronics consumer brand so that those electronics good maker can use Nokia's brand name. Nokia might take Porsche Design as an example of this sort of brand-licensing.

There has not any deal signed yet but the 'Nokia' brand name could be used on a range of electronics. It hasn't to be only mobile phone, which is Nokia planning. "This is not a sentimentality thing," said Suri.

According to a survey by market researcher Interbrand Nokia is dropped down to 98th this year among the world's best known corporate names, down from fifth in 2007 when they were synonymous with mobile phone.

Nokia sold its former flagship mobile phones business to Microsoft for more than $7 billion in April. Last week Microsoft launched their latest phone by erasing the Nokia name. They just used the name "Lumia" instead of "Nokia Lumia"

Microsoft has a 10-year license to use the Nokia brand. Nokia too will have the right to license its brand name to third parties in the fourth quarter of 2016. They also has the right to provide license for other devices which do not compete with anything that Microsoft sells.
