"Terminator" 5 star Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in the upcoming zombie flick "Maggie". Reported to co- star Arnold is Abigail Breslin of Little Miss Sunshine, ironically also in Zombieland.
The story revolves around a girl named Maggie (played by Breslin), who is infected in the outbreak of a zombie virus. Knowing that her impending doom is nearing, she finds comfort in the care of her father, Wade (Schwarzenegger) at their home in their farm. The premise is said to be more intimate, something different from the likes of Dawn of the Dead or even Zombieland.
It is reported that the movie will be released under Lionsgate Pictures, hitting theaters in early 2015. Here's the official press release (via screenrant.com):
"Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a premier next generation global content leader, has acquired the North American distribution rights to the apocalyptic thriller Maggie, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (the Terminator andExpendables franchises, Total Recall, Batman and Robin), Academy Award-nominated Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, Ender's Game) and Joely Richardson (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the hit TV series The Tudors and Nip/Tuck).
The film tells the story of a deadly zombie virus that has put a plague on the world. When Maggie, a vivacious young woman becomes infected, her father brings her home to let her be with their family. As Maggie's condition worsens, their relationship is tested, a father's love holding on stronger than the disease. This heart-wrenching twist on the zombie apocalypse puts a human face on an inexplicable horror."
Reports say that John Scott penned the script, while Henry Hobson, noted visual artist famous for his title credits and sequences, is directing the zombie-drama. "Maggie" joins the likes of 28 Days Later, George Romero's of The Dead movies and TV series Walking Dead, adding to the growing zombie genre in entertainment.
