| By

Last month, we heard that DC and Warner Bros. might award the Wonder Woman movie remake to a female director, although they are not closing their doors should it happen to be male who's perfect for the job. There were also some names that emerged on the list such as Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty,2012), Lynne Ramsay (Ratcatcher,1999), Patty Jenkins (Monster,2003), Debra Granik (Winter's Bone,2010), Amma Asante (Belle,2013), Ava DuVernay (directed an episode of Scandal), Michelle MacLaren (directed some episodes of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead and The Leftovers), Jennifer Lee (Frozen,2013), Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights,2014), Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids are Alright,2010), Sarah Polley (Stories We Tell,2012), Kimberly Pierce (Carrie,2013) and Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda 1, 2008; Kung Fu Panda,2011; Kung Fu Panda 3, 2015).

Among all the names above, Michelle MacLaren is reportedly the top choice of DC and Warner, although this was not yet confirmed by them. She is said to be head to head with Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, among the top of mind female directors, in hopes of giving Wonder Woman movie a certain kind of prestige that will make just about every moviegoer watch the much-anticipated film.

MacLaren has slowly carved a name for herself having directed several episodes of TV series namely "Game of Thrones," "The Walking Dead" and "Breaking Bad." Each episode earned her reputation as a "muscular director." According to reports, Warner Bros. EVP of Production and Development Greg Silverman has always been a fan of MacLaren's work and had been wanting to get her a project but nothing seemed to fit.

We will see in the coming days if MacLaren will be confirmed to helm Wonder Woman, to be played by Israeli actress Gal Gadot (Fast and Furious), which is scheduled to hit the big screens June 23,2017. Stay with us for more of Wonder Woman movie updates.
