Gone Girl took the world by storm, staying true to the reviews and predictions made by different film review sites. The mystery thriller movie, which was directed by David Fincher and stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike, earned $311.1 million after high profile coverage from the press. It also helped that it was based from a best-selling 2012 novel of the same name that was widely praised by critics.
Overall, the film did great. However, one specific scene that has viewers shocked and mesmerized is the one featuring Affleck all-naked. Some moviegoers claimed that they saw the actor's penis. Does that daring Gone Girl scene really exists? Did it really happen?
Gone Girl finally discussed the Ben Affleck nude scene and it still not clear whether it really happened.
"No. There was no talk. There was more talk about Emily's scene where she had to take her top off. I heard more about that than Ben's at the time. It was sort of a surprise. I saw the shower scene when the movie came out and I was like, 'Oh wait. You almost saw his, well, I didn't know they were doing that," Patrick Fugit, who plays Officer Jim Gilpin in the film, told the Entertainment Weekly's Inside Movies.
Gillian Flynn, author of the novel and also wrote the screenplay, has a different take on that highly talked about Gone Girl scene.
"It is so quick. Maybe you see it, maybe you don't. I laughed because there were all these things being said about his full frontal and I was like, 'That is not the definition of full frontal, my friends," she said.
She also praised Ben Affleck for his commitment on a fully nude scene.
"That was a man getting into a shower. I expect to see a lot more when people call it full frontal. I was like, 'I wrote this book and this film and I saw the dailies and I don't remember a full frontal.' Maybe they went off script there. But I appreciate [Ben's] commitment to the authenticity of a man getting into a shower. Man, you committed."
