Country Time Lemonade launched its new drink mix, the Half Lemonade & Half Iced Tea lemonade iced tea mix, and is looking towards a slew of celebrities and fans to choose a name for it.
Beginning May 1, 2012, Country Time set across a new marketing campaign to promote the release of the new half and half drink, and will allow a handful of celebrities to come up with their own unique names for it. From the batch chosen by the famous faces, including athletes and actors alike, consumers of the drinks can nominate their own names for the new drink; the winning name will be announced, according to a press release issued by Country Time on Tuesday, via their official Facebook on September 3, 2012.
Celebrities who began promoting the new Half Lemonade & Half Iced Tea Drink Mix from May 15th via a video viral campaign included actress Kristen Chenoweth, football player Drew Brees, NBA star of the Milwaukee Bucks Brandon Jennings, and NASCAR driver Michael Waltrip.
"Summer is about getting ready for football and hanging with friends and family," Drew Brees, record-setting quarterback, commented as saying for the press release. "Beyond that, everybody loves the feeling of the cool breeze from the ocean. How could you call it anything but the 'Brees?'"
Waltrip retaliated against Brees' notion.
"Drew Brees is one heck of a football player," Waltrip, veteran NASCAR driver and owner of Waltrip Racing, said. "But I actually drove the Country Time car back in the day, and I can't think of anything more fitting than the new drink to simply be called 'The Waltrip.'"
Jennings stated that he would prefer the drink to be titled after something closer to his heart. "No disrespect, but this is about a new version of a drink that has been around and loved for a while," Jennings was quoted as saying for the press release. "I love this move. Since I was a little kid I've been mixing Country Time with all kinds of other drinks. Let's just call it 'The Brandon.' That sounds great to me!"
Country Time will continue its marketing strategy for the drink mix through their official Facebook and YouTube pages, set to include five promotional segments released throughout this summer, with a victory speech, according to the press release, to be revealed on September 3rd, the day the title of the drink is announced.
"Entering the iced tea segment is exciting for us," Brett Hartmann, Brand Manager of Country Time, stated for the press release. "We think the Half & Half blend could use a new nickname and with so many celebrities involved, this is sure to be an exciting promotion."
