The first Samsung-brand retail store in Canada is set to open in summer 2012 in the city of Burnaby, B.C., announced Samsung Electronics Canada. While the electronics-centered franchise sold Samsung products, including the new Galaxy III Android smartphones, in Canada, the British Columbian shop will be the first with the brand's title to sell nothing but its products.
The store, for which construction has started, will be located in the Metropolis at Metrotown, confirmed Samsung Electronics Canada in a press release issued on Thursday. The key significance of the new retailer would be that it could sell Samsung-brand mobile devices, personal computer systems, and consumer electronics products, in, as the press release stated, "a standalone retail location."
"Samsung is excited to bring a new level of retail experience to Canadians," James Politeski, President of Samsung Electronics Canada, was quoted as saying for the press release. "Our vision is to provide an immersive space where consumers can interact with our products in totally new ways and enjoy unprecedented service levels."
Samsung stated that in order to further provide in-store education on its products, the new Canadian retail store would be led by "full trained Samsung experts" for specific in-store education areas, Smart Table technology, and a tablet-based point-of-sale system, according to the press release, not unlike the one provided at Apple retail stores worldwide.
"The launch of our Burnaby location is part of a larger retail strategy designed to offer Canadians an extraordinary environment to interact with the Samsung products they're most passionate about," added Politeski in the press statement.
Presently, plans to build and open more Samsung-brand stores across Canada have not been mentioned or confirmed by Samsung Electronics Canada. The company did promise that the Burnaby location would "provide Canadian consumers with a premium retail experience. The store will showcase Samsung's technology leadership and enable consumers to experience firsthand the power of sharing content across multiple products," the press release printed.
