Design and Display
HTC had been a tough Apple competitor in terms of its design. Though the HTC Desire 820 and HTC Desire 816 falls in the mid-range category their metal unibody design gave the phones a high-end feature compared to other high-end phones clad in plastic shell.
The HTC Desire 820 has the dimensions of 157.7×78.7×7.7mm and weighs at 155grams, while the HTC Desire 816 has the dimensions of 156.6×78.7×7.9mm and 10g heavier than the HTC Desire 820.
The HTC Desire 820 is available in nine colors, and the HTC Desire 816 features six pastel colors.
Though the HTC Desire 820 is the latest flagship it still carries the same screen display at 5.5inches LCD screen that supports 1280x720pixels with 267ppi.
Hardware and OS
When it comes to its performance the HTC Desire 820 boasts a 64-bit processor one of the few smartphones in the market.It is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip with an octa core processor formed by a quad core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and quad core 1GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and supported by a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset and has 2 GB of RAM.
While the Desire 816 is powered by a 32-bit Snapdragon 400 chip with a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor that couples with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM.
These two smartphones run on Android 4.4.4 KItkat with HTC Sense 6 UI and as per reports the HTC Desire 820 will be the first to receive Android L update among HTC's mid-range phones.
Both phones also share the same 16GB of internal storage and expandable external memory up to 128GB via a micro sd slot.
Camera
They sport a 13MP rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, HD recording capabilities and other features. But HTC Desire 820 is a better snapper for the "selfie' fanatic as it boasts an 8MP front camera while the other at 5MP.
