With development beginning in 2007, finally we are hearing news about the upcoming video game "Torment: Tides of Numenera"! Release date and other updates revealed and here's what we know so far.
The spiritual successor to Chris Avellone's "Planescape: Torment", "Torment: Tides of Numenera" development forwarded as a Kickstarter campaign was set-up to fund the project. Launched in 2013, directed Kevin Saunders expressed that the idea behind crown-funding is more than actual gathering of financial support, but it allows the development of "Torment: Tides of Numenera" to be focused on a specific group of supporters. This means that backers become, in some ways, involved in the development and the project team is able to gather comments and suggestions while they work to meet the "Torment: Tides of Numenera" release date.
The kickstarter campaign for "Torment: Tides of Numenera" broke the record of fastest project to achieve its initial funding goal in its first seven hours. A demonstration of the high anticipation for "Torment: Tides of Numenera" and how far fans would go just to meet the release date.
The release date for "Torment: Tides of Numenera" was initially set for the holiday season, specifically in December of this year. However, due to other projects occurring during the production of "Torment: Tides of Numenera", the release date has been moved to a later date. Saunders explains in the Kickstarter page: "Now that we have a more certain roll-off plan for the production team from Wasteland to Torment, we're better able to predict the shape of our schedule. And, as you may have guessed, the first half of 2015 isn't realistic anymore and we're looking at the fourth quarter of 2015."
The "'Torment: Tides of Numenera' continues the thematic legacy of the critically acclaimed 'Plabescape: Torment. Set in Monte Cook's tabletop role-playing world, Numenera, the newest 'Torment' asks: What does one life matter?"
