41-year-old singer Nick Lachey recently admitted that he thinks it was "the best thing" that he and ex-wife Jessica Simpson, did not have any children together.
The 98 Degrees singer and TV host was previously married to 34-year-old blonde-haired pop star for around four years before they ended up divorcing in 2006. Currently, Lachey is happily married to former 2008 Miss Teen USA, Vanessa Minnillo. Lachey revealed that he is glad things had happened the way they did.
Lachey said in an interview with Jenny McCarthy on her SiriusXM show Dirty, Sexy, Funny, "In our situation, that was probably the best thing that could have ever happened that we didn't have kids.
Lachey is currently expecting his second child with his wife Vanessa. The couple has already one child together, two-year-old son named Camden. Lachey explained that he believes this is the way things were meant to be.
The former boy band heartthrob continued, "And look, you're always going to love your kids no matter how you feel about their other parent," he said. "But all things being equal, it was the best thing probably for both of us that we went on with our lives. She's obviously happily married with two and I'm happily married and about to have two so it all worked out the way it was kind of meant to work out."
Jessica is now married to Eric Johnson who is a former American football player. The couple have two children together. They have a two-year-old daughter named Maxwell and a 17-month-old son named Ace Knute. Lachey reiterated that there is no ongoing relationship between he and his ex-wife.
"She and I don't necessarily stay in each other's lives," he revealed. "I wouldn't say it's friends and I wouldn't say it's enemies - there is just no contact. We both moved on with our lives...it's not animosity, it's not friendship, it's just kind of nothing."
