China's current top smartphone maker Xiaomi seems to be planning yet another surprise for its users and fans as an image of a seemingly new device with model number Xiaomi 2014811 was spotted at GFXBench via GSMArena.
The listing showed features of the said tablet having a 9.2 inches screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 (ARMv7) with a quad-core processor running with clock speeds up to 1.2GHz, as well as an Adreno 306 graphics unit. According to the list, the operating system is to be Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Other key specs include 1GB RAM and an 8GB built-in storage space out of which 5.8GB will be for the user. Noticeably, it mentioned of a rear and front camera, but indicated no details on the resolution, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, SIM card, but this could mean the tablet will offer mobile data connectivity.
No confirmation from Xiaomi has been given if the said tablet is legit, but this caused excitement from all Xiaomi users and fans of a possible new offer from the world's top 3 smartphone manufacturer.
The Chinese tech giant has only been operating for four years, but the overwhelming reception by consumers of their devices such as Mi3, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note, and their latest flagship smartphone Mi4, positioned itself as the world's 3rd top smartphone maker, next to Apple and Samsung, this 3rd quarter of 2014, as reported by IDC and Strategy Analytics.
"Xiaomi shipped 18 million smartphones in the third quarter, an increase of 18 percent from the previous quarter. For the first nine months, Xiaomi, whose name means "millet" in Chinese, shipped a total of 44 million units," Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun said. It is most likely that they will hit or even surpass their target of shipping 60 million units by the end of the year, as they continue to gain followers and expand their market outside China.
