While Dwayne Johnson spearheads the buzz on the upcoming "Shazam!" movie after confirming his role as Black Adam, new updates apart from release date reveal general storyline and possible actors who will take on "Shazam".
After confirming via Twitter of his involvement in the upcoming "Shazam!" movie, Dwayne Johnson was asked by a fan about the upcoming "Shazam!" movie, whether it will have a fun or serious tone. Dwayne Johnson responds, tweeting "I guaran-damn-tee we're gonna have bad ass fun w/ Black Adam. (It's a NL/DC property). #Independence. See u at the junket homie."
With the hashtag independence, speculations have surfaced online revealing that the upcoming "Shazam!" movie will not be tied up to the DC Universe. Confirming an early statement by Toby Emmerich president of New Line, speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the "independence" of "Shazam!" upon its release date.
Emmerich shares, "It feels to me like 'Shazam!' will have a tone unto itself. It's a DC comic, but it's not a Justice League character, and it's not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies."
While most buzz about "Shazam!" movie focuses on Dwayne Johnson as he is the first confirmed cast member of the upcoming superhero movie, there has not been news more than speculations about the actor who will play the lead character.
Among the speculated and recommended actors to play Shazam upon the "Shazam!" movie release date, opposite Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is Channing Tatum, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Hardy, Daniel Cudmore (Colussus in "X-Men: Days of Future Past"), Joe Manganiello ("True Blood"), Alan Ritchson and Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"), and Armie Hammer ("The Lone Ranger").
"Shazam!" release date has been set on April 5, 2019. Definitely a long wait, but most likely another hit from everybody's favorite, Dwayne Johnson. Stay tuned for more news!
