Finally, updated news of the highly anticipated "X-Men" franchise arrives!

News reveals that characters Michael Fassbender's Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique will be the focus of the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse". Find out more about the sequel, release date and other news here!

With the previous "X-Men" film focusing on combining both old and new characters in "X-Men: Days of Future Past", fans of the franchise could not wait what will happen in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" upon it release date. Finally we are hearing more news, this time involving A-list actors Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

Reports reveal that upon the "X-Men: Apocalypse" release date, fans will experience more than the awesome return of their favorite mutant characters but also a deeper understanding of their relationship among each other. In particular, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique and Michael Fassbender's Magneto.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "In fact, 'Apocalypse' is being crafted around Lawrence's Mystique character and Michael Fassbender's Magneto. A source who has seen the script says Fox will take full advantage of Lawrence and Fassbender's star power, placing Mystique and Mangneto's romance front and center."

While of course Marvel's Apocalypse is actually another fictional character in the "X-Men" universe as one of the most dangerous villains the "X-Men" has encountered, focusing on Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique and Michael Fassbender's Magneto does not mean the team will not battle it out with this super villain.

Although this particular "X-Men" franchise has consistently raked in millions of sales, Simon Kinberg (producer and screenwriter of "X-Men: Apocalypse" insist this will be the last of the trilogy involving Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, Michael Fassbender's Magneto, James McAvoy's Professor X, Nicholas Hault's Beast, Anna Paquin's Rogue and Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde.

Kinberg shares with The Hollywood Reporter, "I will say that ["X-Men: Apocalypse"] is definitely the close of a trilogy for those 'First Calss' characters. [This] isn't to say we won't see them in future movies, hopefully we will, but it's a completion of an ark for them."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" release date has been set on a solid May 27, 2016.
