The last episode of the Flash series, called Plastique, featured three new characters. There's Plastique (played by Kelly Frye) who brought instant bombs into the city that could blow away anything, even the heart of Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes). (Watch out: The Flash spoiler) Unfortunately, she had to die. Then there's General Wade Eiling (played by Clancy Brown) who brought a mean presence and probably main nemesis for Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Last one is Gorilla Grodd who in the comics is one of the primary enemies of The Flash/Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin).
Clancy Brown's guest appearance in the Flash is one of the highlights of the CW Network show. Why not, he is a veteran actor who has appeared in various DC projects such as Green Lantern, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies as the voice of Lex Luthor and Lego Batman: The Movie. General Wade Eiling is one of the most interesting and biggest characters in DC Comics. This is one reason why it is natural for fans to hope that Brown's character will grow in the Flash, like acquiring superpowers just like in the comics. However, if it is Brown that you will ask, he does not want Eiling to get superpowers in the Flash.
"I don't know. To be honest with you, I never liked what happened to Eiling in the comic books. I liked his character before all that nonsense happened," Clancy Brown told ComicBook.com in an interview held on the same day he made his debut in the Flash.
"It's like Thunderbolt Ross -- I don't like that he necessarily turned into the Red Hulk but it was sort of the way the narrative had to go. The Red Hulk and Thunderbolt Ross exist perfectly well exclusive of each other and I think that Eiling turning into...what did he become in the comics? Some kind of Nazi-werewolf nonsense? I don't think that's relevant these days."
Interestingly, Clancy Brown has also voiced for Gorilla Grodd in Robot Chicken movie. Viewers only had a glimpse of the monster in the Flash series. When asked if he has any pointers for the man who will play him in the CW Network show, here's what he said.
"To do Gorilla Grodd? [Laughs] Well, my Gorilla Grodd was a joke! Powers Booth did it in the Justice League Unlimited and he did a great job. I don't know what Grodd's going to turn into but no, no. I don't have any pointers. [Laughs] Hell, no. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with him."
