Our endearing leading lady has to deal with unfulfilled expectations, major disappointments and big decisions in this week's episode. Read the 'Jane The Virgin' recap for chapter 5!
The 23 years she spent not knowing about her father made Jane create a mental image of the dad she never knew. Throughout the years, she built up expectations for a faceless person that she hoped she would meet one day.
However, now that she has met her real father, the image she created promptly came crashing down as she realized that Rogelio did not share any similarities with her. The telenovela star was too caught up with impressing his newfound daughter that he ended up making a complete fool of himself.
Meanwhile, Rafael, finally makes his decision to divorce Petra a reality and despite risking the loss of his child, he also comes clean to Jane (about the divorce, not the sex dreams he's been having of her lately). Just as he expected, his impending divorce makes Jane think twice now of giving her baby away to a single father.
On the other hand, Petra tries to come up with a plan to stop Rafael from breaking up with her. If it concerns her prenup (and the $10 million she'll get after five years), however, Petra and her mother do all they can to stop the divorce, which includes a black eye and a false domestic abuse accusation.
After the whole debacle of meeting her father, Jane eventually decides that she wants her baby to have a loving family with both parents together. She tells Rafael that she will keep the baby, offering joint custody instead the complications that will bring.
Further along this 'Jane The Virgin' episode, Michael also decides to clean his conscience about his past. He tells Jane about stealing cars with his brother, seeing their shared illegal history as a means for him to blackmail him for money. Michael promises to never hold any information back from Jane anymore.
Alas, he still had one more secret that he chose not to tell Jane about - Petra's affair with Zas. He had earlier feigned surprise at the news but when Jane finds out about his little white lie, it's too late to explain.
Jane leaves him and runs crying back to the person she left in the beginning of the episode - her mother.
Also, another murder happens in the hotel and this time, the bellboy (who is also the suspect for Zas' murder) utters a name - Sin Rostro.
