The actress, who has shared success with the science geek actors of the show has died after a short battle with cancer. Her character, Mrs. Wolowitz was never seen on screen, but was well beloved by the followers of the series. Howard Holowitz, the name of the character who plays her son, is known to have a love-hate relationship with his mother, as Mrs. Holowitz is portrayed as an annoying, overbearing mother. Carol Ann Susi's brooklyn accent was the perfect medium to communicate to the audience the kind of impact and personality Mrs. Wolowitz had on the show.
In addition to The Big Bang Theory News, Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Bill Prady, who are the Executive producers of CBS, Warner Bros. Television, and The Big Bang Theory have released a statement in regards to the recent passing of the beloved veteran actress: "The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz. Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show's eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann's immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance. In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly."
