Guillermo del Toro's FX television series "The Strain" season 1 has just wrapped up and buzz for the season 2 has already surfaced online! Read on for release date and other updates on the second season, including what we know so far about the horror drama series.
Mid-first season of "The Strain" FX renewed the horror drama series for season 2 where production is set to commence this November. According to creator Guillermo del Toro himself, "Actually, we start with 'The Strain' [season 2] in November, and I'm going to be shooting a creature unite, the action unit, and I'm going to be shooting the Mexican luchador footage, the black-and-white footage that appears in the series."
According to The Strain News, Academy Award winner del Toro will be actively involved in the production of "The Strain" season 2 to meet the release date in 2015 and to ensure the quality of the series. The report shares, "Having Guillermo del Toro back is huge for fans and it's something that will no doubt make season two of The Strain just as impressive and fun to watch as things were the first time around."
What we know so far about "The Strain" season 2 before its release date is that as del Toro shared during the 2014 Comic-Con, five episodes will be filmed with Corey Stoll as Dr. Ephraim "Eph" Goodweather in the lead role. "The Strain" season 2 is based on the first novel of "The Strain Trilogy" written by del Toro and Chuck Hogan in 2009.
Apart from Corey Stroll who plays the lead character in "The Strain" season 2, actors David Bradley, Mia Maestro, Kevin Durand, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, and Sean Astin are among the cast members.
