Ex-flames Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding will reportedly be meeting each other again for the 2014 Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium on November 13.
With the drama that these two allegedly had last year, it could get pretty awkward between the two exes. Especially with fans and the media pointing out Sheeran's song 'Don't' as a tell-all of a very nasty breakup between the two singers.
According to rumors, Goulding finally got fed up at all the speculations and talks about her supposed infidelity during her brief tryst with the 'Thinking Out Loud' singer. She reportedly decided to seek legal advice after getting too much negative attention from the controversial song.
The media, aided by fans of the 'Lego House' hitmaker, quickly assumed that she was the cheating ex being talked about in 'Don't.' The worst part was that the guy she supposedly cheated on Sheeran with was his close friend and One Direction member Niall Horan.
Sheeran didn't deny or admit the speculations, aside from revealing in an interview that the song was "100% true." Goulding was further put under fire when the acoustic star talked about moving on from his unfaithful ex but forgiving the friend who betrayed him.
That seemed to worsen things for Goulding.
According to Top40, her lawyers sent a warning to Sheeran's company, telling them that she will take legal action should any more articles claiming her association to the song were to be published.
The site also quoted a source, saying, "Ed had never denied that Ellie was an inspiration for his work, so this seems a strange response after such a long time. Online, there are hundreds of fan and media sites that have gone much further in their descriptions of Ellie."
An impending lawsuit or not, Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding will still have to see each other when they perform for British monarchs on Thursday. Other performers include Demi Lovato, Dame Shirley Bassey, Bette Middler as well as comedians Russell Kane and Jack Whitehall. Michael McIntyre will host the annual event.
This year's variety concert will be the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton's first attendance of the show. A Royal family member has attended the performance every year since it started in 1912. The rest of the British monarchy attended the event in past years.
