Yes! After years of talks and rumors going around the industry, it's finally happening! The classic American TV series, Six Million Dollar Man, is now coming onto the big screens! The film will be renamed to Six Billion Dollars Man.
The lead role will be taken by one of the most talented stars in Hollywood, Mark Wahlberg. The Transformers: Age of Extinction star will be working once again with director Peter Berg. Wahlberg and Berg had previously worked together on the box office success Lone Survivor in 2013.
The film's story is based on Martin Caidin's 1972 bestseller sci-fi book Cyborg. The book was partially used for the 1970s television show which the upcoming film will be based on. It tells the story of a former astronaut named Steve Austin, who is fitted with bionic replacements after a horrific experimental plane crash. With Austin's new legs, right arm and left eyes, he turns into a powerful cyborg who then becomes a secret agent for the government.
The filming is planned to start in 2015, next year. But with the 43-year-old The Departed actor's commitment to his two other films, Daddy's Home and Deepwater Horizon, there is a big chance that the filming of Six Billion Dollars Man might have to be pushed back to another year.
While Wahlberg's new film has currently no release date set, the fans of the Boogie Nights actor will still be able to see him in his other upcoming movies, Mojave, The Gambler and Ted 2.
Mark is an American actor, producer, model, and former rapper. In his earlier years in the media, he was known as Marky Mark and become famous for his 1991 debut as frontman with the band marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.
