Suicide Squad Movie: Has The DC Film Found Its Joker? See Who They Are Reportedly Tapping For The Iconic Villain

| By

Ever since Heath Ledger portrayed the Joker in the Dark Knight opposite Christian Bale, the iconic Batman villain has been synonymous to the actor. Jack Nicholson convincingly portrayed the role, too, but since Ledger is the more recent, it is automatic to compare anyone vying for the Joker role to the deceased actor. In 2016, the twisted, psycho villain will again grace theaters through the Suicide Squad movie. The Joker was added into the fictional organization just this year year. With that said, Warner Bros. want it to be portrayed by someone who is as good as the late Heath Ledger.

It seems that DC and WB has already found the man that will portray the Joker. In a report by the Wrap, it is revealed that Jared Leto, known for his role as a transgender woman in 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club wherein he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, might be the Joker in the Suicide Squad movie.

"Oscar winner Jared Leto is circling a key role in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" that could prove to be The Joker, an individual familiar with the Warner Bros. project has told TheWrap," the website wrote.

There's nothing confirmed yet on the Suicide Squad movie cast. However, with all the characters in the DC Comics-based project having their own share of legacy, it will not be surprising to see them portrayed by award-winning actors. Jared Leto has proven his versatility in his craft so there's nothing wrong seeing him with that big permanent smile, purple suit, and long hair.

Aside from Jared Leto, other actors rumored to have been included in the Suicide Squad movie cast are Jesse Eisenberg. The Social Network star is reportedly set to reprise his role as Lex Luthor which he will also play in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Other names are Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, and Cara Delevingne as Harley Quinn.
