The 23-year-old British singer had recently revealed to the media that he's starting his own record label with Warner Music.
In an interview with The Sun (via Capital FM), the young talent said, "The door has now been opened, I've set up the label and I'm going to start signing people. It'll be an imprint that goes through Warner. But I'll get the rights back in about ten years. I've got my first signing in mind. I'm looking at people like me, who came through the singer-songwriter scene."
The A Team singer added, "I'm going to focus on this when I'm on tour next year. Hopefully the acts will be up and running by the time I take time off."
Edward Christopher Sheeran, known as Ed Sheeran, is an English singer-songwriter, born in Hebden Bridge and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk. He moved to London in 2008 to pursue a career in music. In early 2011, he released an independent extended play called No. 5 Collaborations Project, which caught the attention of both singing sensations, Elton John and Jamie Foxx.
Sheeran then signed to Asylum Records and released his debut album called +. The album contained the smash hit singles A Team and Lego House, which was certified quintuple platinum in the United Kingdom.
Sheeran began to become known globally the year after. He made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift's fourth studio album called Red. He aslo wrote songs for the group One Direction. His song, The A Team, was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards where he also performed the award-winning song in duet with Elton John. Sheeran spent much of 2013 touring North America as the opening act for Taylor Swift's The Red Tour.
In June 2014, Sheeran released his second studio album titled x. It charted at number one in the UK and US. Sheeran was aslo nominated for Best New Artist at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards.
