Queen's original frontman, Freddie Mercury died in 1991 after he succumbed to AIDS-related complications. As a tribute to his memory, the remaining members of the legendary rock group decided to give one of its new tracks for charity. Proceeds of Queen's new song, 'Let Me In Your Heart Again', will be given to battle HIV/AIDS.
Guitarist Dr. Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor released the restored version of the song which features the iconic singer's voice. It was recorded by Mercury in the 80's but was never released. Noted producer, William Orbit (who previously worked with Madonna, Britney Spears and Blur) remixed the song with new parts added by Taylor and May.
Sales of 'Let Me In Your Heart Again,' will be given to the Coca-Cola Company and (RED)'s new campaign."Share the Sound of an AIDS-Free-Generation" will feature artists like Wyclef Jean featuring Avicii, OneRepublic and Aloe Blacc with one song to be released subsequently throughout November.
May reportedly told The Telegraph, "It's been 23 years since the world lost our beloved Freddie Mercury. We've made extraordinary progress in the fight against AIDS in that time. But we cannot simply rest on the fact that the treatment is available. We must ensure that it is provided."
Both surviving members opted to share Queen's new song ahead of their new album's release "in the hope that Freddie's powerful voice can inspire the world yet again."
The Coca-Cola Company and (Red)'s campaign will use the songs offered by such incredible artists to help the Global Fund. The money will be used for research on AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria treatments. It also aims to finance grants to provide HIV prevention, testing, counseling, treatment, and care services.
More restored songs, featuring Freddie Mercury's vocals can be heard on Queen's new album, 'Queen Forever'. It will also contain a collaboration song with Michael Jackson, 'There Must Be More to Life Than This.'
Due out on November 10, the new album will reportedly contain outtake songs from the sessions for their 1983 album, 'The Works.'
Queen will be going on tour with Adam Lambert in Europe starting January of next year.
