Dean McDermott has quit his wife's reality series, True Tori!
On Wednesday, McDermott opened up to Access Hollywood on his troubles in life. He also revealed his decision to quit his wife, Tori Spelling's Lifetime series after almost a couple of seasons of raw and emotional on-camera therapy.
According to the Chopped Canada host, he revealed that, "We have five more shows left. I can't do this anymore." The 47-year-old father of four continued, "I can't keep opening a vein, opening my soul and sharing my feelings and thoughts and demons with the world. I don't watch it. I can't. It's really difficult. I can't do it anymore, for my soul."
McDermott and his 41-year-old wife had started shooting the show a while after news broke last December 2013 that he had an affair with a woman named Emily Goodhand. While on the reality show, the couple was seen working on their marriage and McDermott also struggles with depression as well as substance abuse.
McDermott admitted that, "The fact that I cheated on my wife, I wish never happened." He added, "I wish my alcohol and drug use hadn't gotten out of control. I still love her to death and that's why we're still together."
Though the reality TV star seems dedicated to patching up his marriage, his affair and his substance abuse took him to a very bad place. He said, "I almost lost everything, everything that means anything to me. I don't want to ever do that again. I don't ever want to be in that dark place again where I wanted to take my life."
McDermott also admitted to having suicidal thoughts at one point. "I was driving around in my truck with a loaded 9 mm. I was put on a 5150 at the UCLA psych ward. [My son] Liam had a performance and I didn't want to miss that performance... I had plans that night to do it."
Since that scary incident, he had adjusted his medicine and is currently working on staying sober for the sake of his family. He still believes that his marriage to his wife, Spelling, will survive.
