Gotham TV series series had its strongest performance so far during its latest episode titled Penguin's Umbrella. The episode saw Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon deal with the results of his wrong decisions, Gotham City type of wrong decisions. He didn't kill Oswald "Penguin" Cobblepot as per the order of boss mafia boss Carmine Falcone (played by John Doman) who saved him and Harvey Bullock from getting slaughered. Now, his decision to spare Cobblepot his life has come back to haunt him and people close to him.
The show is hoping for better performances in ratings game in the coming episodes. By adding more characters, mostly villains, Gotham TV series hopes viewership to rise in the coming weeks. Can Gotham TV series do it by adding another love interest for Gordon? In an interview with the Daily Beast, McKenzie revealed that his character will have a new apple of the eye, the newly added Leslie Thompkins who will be portrayed by Homeland alum Morena Baccarin.
"They just hired Morena Baccarin on Gotham to play my love interest, Dr. Leslie Thompkins, and she said, 'Hey, I did an episode of The O.C.!' and I was like, 'What!?'" said McKenzie while talking about his previous show the O.C.
In the DC Comics, Dr. Thompkins is described as a medical colleague of the Bruce Wayne family. As to how she will meet Jim Gordon, that remains to be seen. This Gotham TV series spoiler from McKenzie will surely send Batman fans wondering. Gordon already has Barbara Kean and in the comics, they ended up together and had a child. In the last episode of Gotham TV series, Barbara, played by Erin Richards, is becoming a headache to the viewers but not to Gordon for being too nosy and stubborn. The detective police even assured her that he still loves her despite her indecision that screwed up his plan to take down the mob.
