Earlier Hannibal Season 3 spoiler have it that executive producer Bryan Fuller is planning to expand the character of Lady Murasaki, Hannibal's aunt in the novel where the show's characters were loosely based from. Lady Murasaki, who will be played by Tao Okamoto, was announced as one of the new characters last month. By the word expansion, does this include a possible romance with one of the mainstays?
If you have read the novel, Murasaki isn't just an aunt to Hannibal, she is also a love interest. Will we also see that 'sort of' incestuous relationship in Hannibal Season 3. In an interview with Yahoo TV, Mads Mikkelsen, who plays the title role, finally spoke about Lady Murasaki.
"Well I'm still waiting to get some scripts, and everything can change, but romantic is a big word when we're dealing with Hannibal. I believe that anything that he finds interesting becomes romantic in a way - whether it's a nice glass of wine or a piece of music or somebody he finds interesting," Mikkelsen told Yahoo TV.
"It could be Jack Crawford as well. There's a certain romance there as well, at least with his wife. Romance plays a big part in Hannibal's life. He always lifts everything up to something worthwhile. He doesn't want it to be nothing - he wants it to be special."
While Hannibal season 3 will feature new character, the center of the story will still be on the one from the earlier seasons that were left out by Dr. Lecter bleeding after a brutal fight, particularly Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). When asked if Will and Hannibal will get to renew their friendship, Mikkelsen said that it might not be the same again. He even said that it will be a 'cat and cat' chase now between them instead of cat and mouse fight.
"It's hard to say. [Laughs.] I would rephrase the question: Does Will Graham call Hannibal a friend? [Laughs.] It's a brutal thing that happened, obviously, in Season 2, in the end, but at least it's the closest he's ever been to having a friend. "
