For the first time since it debut, Gotham TV series rating has finally gone up. The show has suffered weekly declines when it comes to viewership but for the episode titled Penguin's Umbrella, it is a different story. According to Inside TV of the Entertainment Weekly, "Gotham had 6.5 million viewers and a 2.4 rating. The show also broke its usual crime-of-the-week format for a heavily serialized episode that gave more screen time than ever to fan favorite The Penguin (played by Robin Lord Taylor)." The last episode of the Gotham TV series titled, Spirit of the Goat, had 5.89 million viewers.
This week's episode is said to be the strongest of the Batman-inspired TV show. IGN described it as a 'solid, ultra-serialized' episode and the best that the show had to offer. Screen Crush, on the other hand, commended the writers for playing to its strength and "allowing its established characters to live and breathe in their own messes." For Den of Geek, it thinks that it's "just one little push away from this show (to) finding its stride."
So the ratings for Gotham is improving, can the new villain added in the show lift it even higher. Before the airing of the Penguin's Umbrella episode, Fox announced that iconic DC villain Scarecrow is set to appear in the show. This new Gotham TV series spoiler update was first brought by Zap2it which wrote that Scarecrow will come into the city and the world of Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) as a kid.
"We're breaking the story now," Cannon says. On "Gotham," the villain will be seen as a child, before he takes on the Scarecrow moniker. In fact, it's something that will be passed on to him from his father, which will create an eventual enemy for Batman while still having a possible adversary for Jim Gordon."
No actor is selected yet for the iconic villain so let us just wait for more updates from Gotham TV series and Fox.
