Camren Bicondova is turning heads in the Gotham TV series playing young Selina Kyle, also known as the Catwoman. Her smooth moves has many fans thinking the 14-year old actress is the perfect young Catwoman. How did Bicondova managed to crawl through tight spaces and stalk someone without getting noticed? It is because she's one of the finest young dancers in the United States. In case you don't know, the Gotham TV series star found her fame by being a part of dance group 8 Flavahz, runner-up of the seventh season of the America's Best Dance Crew.
Talking to Hero Complex about her role in Gotham TV series, Bicondova said that her dancing skills helped her land the Selina Kyle role. Although she didn't deliberately used those skills, her being a naturally athletic girl somehow contributed in portraying a cat during the auditions.
"For the audition, they actually asked us to prepare some cat movements. The breakdown said that it was optional, but I was trying to get a job, so I'm gonna do it. Using my dance, I was able to choreograph some cat movements. After I did the final audition and I got a callback and found out that I received the role, I found that I was Selina Kyle and not a girl named Mussey, who I originally thought [I was auditioning for]. I was excited and happy and freaked out all at once," Bicondova told Hero Complex.
Dancing is not only her weapon though in preparing for her role in the Gotham TV series. She also did her assignments by researching more about Selina Kyle and the whole Batman world.
"Before I auditioned, I didn't really know about the Batman world. When I was cast, I mainly focused on the comic books, but I also watched the movies and the Adam West '60s "Batman" show."
Aside from Bicondova, Gotham TV series also stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald 'Penguin' Cobblepot, and Jada Pinket Smith as Fish Mooney.
