In 2009, many were shocked when news about Chris Brown assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Four years after that, reports say that the 25-year old singer wanted to get back together with the 'Umbrella' singer. In his new interview on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning show last October 31, Brown opens up in why he tried to get back together with Riri.
“Yeah, we were cool. For me, a lot of it was trying again to pick up the pieces,” Chris explains. “I just wanted to make sure that it was still there, at the end of the day … I wanted to make amends to her, to show her that I could be the man that she wanted me to be.”
Brown also admitted that he had doubts on why Rihanna dated Drake. Hot 97 host Laura Stylez asked Chris if he thought Rihanna dated Drake to get back at him, he replied, “She’s gonna be mad if I say it, but in a way, I do.”
When Stylez asked him if Brown thought Rihanna did that to hurt him, he answered, ”Yeah, a little bit. It’s understandable. It’s the game. We’re young. Relationships… we do that at that age.”
With the past behind, and closures done, Brown has found a new love, model, Karrueche Tran. The two dated from 2010 to 2012 and reports say that she was his first serious relationship after the issue with Rihanna. The couple got back together after Chris and Rihanna finally split in May 2013.
During the interview, Brown shared sweet and positive notes about his new girlfriend, “At the end of the day, we have a real connection as best friends, on top of our intimacy.”
Meanwhile, a source tells Hollywood life that Rihanna has learned a lot from what happened in the past, "The one thing Chris did for Rihanna, which she will forever be thankful for, is that he humbled her. He was the first man to let her know it’s not always about her.”
