The Constantine TV series by NBC has joined the Flash and Arrow in DC Comics' long line-up of boob tube projects. Its first episode had a pretty solid performance as it was able to stand toe-to-toe with the World Series, attracting a total of 4.3 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults at the 18-49 bracket. In the upcoming episodes, Constantine TV series is expected to turn things up into the next level. Matt Ryan, who plays the title role, is all up for it.
In an interview with TV Line, the Welsh actor teased that people will get to see him in one episode without his signature khaki outfit and tie. Constantine TV series is only in its second episode but expect Ryan and the rest of the cast to get involved in dauntless and daring scenes.
"In one episode, I'm naked, covered in blood, doing a sermon while I sacrifice a chicken," Ryan told TV Line after dishing out some crazy stuff they are preparing for the show.
"[Executive producer] David Goyer co-wrote that episode. I think the writers sit in the writers' room and go, "What can we do to Matt Ryan this week?" [Laughs] Some of this s-t they put me through, man... [Laughs] It's great, they way they're really sticking to the Hellraiser stuff. It's getting really dark, as well."
Constantine TV series has also debut Zed Martin (played by Angelica Celaya) in the second episode as replacement to Lucy Griffiths' Liv. The move to change Constantine's love interest is described by the show as a creative change. According to Matt Ryan, Zed is someone who has a strong personality and they won't get along a lot.
"No, they don't. What''s interesting is, John thinks she's stalking him," Ryan said of Zed Martin.
"She's got a picture of him that she's been drawing, and he's like, 'Who is this woman?' But then he finds out that she's got some kind of abilities going on. He's got this case, and he feels that she could be useful."
