The Los Angeles Lakers has suffered two blown out games in their first two assignments. First is against Houston Rockets, second is against Phoenix Suns. Team's main man Kobe Bryant has downplayed suggestions that those losses will dictate how they are going to perform the whole season. He insisted they are "not as bad" as those two games. Everyone has moved on from those heavy defeats. For Kobe, who finished 31 points versus the Suns, his teammates needs to step their game level up. One man he is counting on in this is Jeremy Lin.
During the press conference after the team's loss to Goran Dragic-led franchise, Kobe Bryant revealed that he approached his new point guard while the game was still on going. Lin only had six points and one assist and with Steve Nash going down for the whole season, those statistics are definitely not enough.
"I talked to him a on the bench a little bit [Wednesday night]," Bryant told ESPN's Baxter Holmes. "I said, 'You've got to run the offense. Like, I'm telling you to run the offense. You've got to do it.'"
Kobe Bryant has had success with former teammate Derek Fisher wherein they won five NBA Championship rings together. The 18-year veteran wants Lin to emulate Fisher who is now a coach for the New York Knicks.
"Me and D-Fish used to bicker and snipe at each other all the time, and I couldn't love a teammate more," Bryant said. "These guys are young, man. It takes a little time to understand that -- that teams become really great by challenging each other.
"I want it to be [Lin's] role to orchestrate the offense, call the right things, get guys in the right spots. It's going to take a little getting used to for him, because it's different in the past. But that's what I want from him."
