By the Sea is an upcoming American drama film which is written and directed by Angelina Jolie herself and co-produced by Brad Pitt. The film stars newly-married couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie could be a relationship drama that Jolie wrote several years ago and centered on a couple with issues who take a vacation in a last-ditch effort to save their marriage.
The romantic drama, which is set in the mid-1970s in France tells about Vanessa (Angelina Jolie), a former dancer, and her husband Roland (Brad Pitt), an American writer. As they travel the country together, they seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/café-keeper (Niels Arestrup) and hotel owner (Richard Bohringer)."
"I chose to set By the Sea in the 1970s, not only because it is a colorful and alluring era, but because it removes many of the distractions of contemporary life and allows the focus to remain squarely on the emotions that the characters experience in their journey," Angelina told Entertainment Weekly.
The "timeless" movie is described as a "raw, emotional journey" by Universal Pictures.
"I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna and the entire Universal team as I finish "Unbroken" and begin work on "By The Sea," Jolie said. "They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker."
By the Sea is an on-screen collaboration of Jolie and Pitt since Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
No release dates yet are confirmed but some stills from the film were released on September 15, 2014, and is expected to hit theaters in 2015
