Last Wednesday, October 29, terminal cancer patient Brittany Maynard had released a new video to public about her plans on pushing her originally planned November 1 death date.
The video was released through nonprofit Compassion & Choices where she discussed her decision to extend her life saying, "It doesn't seem like the right time."
The video was recorded weeks ago, on October 12 to 13. The 29-year-old Maynard posted on her website the hard decision that she is making for herself. She emotionally said, "If November 2 has come along and I've passed. I hope my family is still proud of me and the choices I made. And if November 2 comes along and I'm still alive, I know that we'll just still be moving forward as a family out of love for each other, and that the decision will come later."
At the time the emotional video was shot, Maynard said, "I still feel good enough and I still have enough joy and I still laugh and smile with my family and friends enough that it doesn't seem like the right time. Right now. But, it will come because I feel myself getting sicker. It's happening each week."
Maynard was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer on New Year's Day. In April, she was told that her life expectancy would be six months after doctors found an abnormally large brain tumor. Maynard then decided to move to Oregon, a state which has a "Death With Dignity" law. In a previous interview on The Meredith Vieira Show, she claimed, "It's not suicide."
Maynard's husband, Dan Diaz, had also shown his support by talking to the public about his wife's struggles. He talked about how the whole experience had changes his perspective in life. "It sounds so cliche: We take things one day at a time. It's the only way to get through this. You take away the material stuff, all the nonsense we all seem to latch onto as a society, and you realize those moments are what matter."
