The daytime talk show host announced Thursday the launch of "Ellentube," an online video portal and iOS app that features exclusive clips from The Ellen DeGeneres Show and gives fans the opportunity to upload user-generated content.

"Ellentube," which was created by DeGeneres and Ellen show executive producers Mary Connelly, Ed Galvin and Andy Lassner, will be organized around video playlists based on popular Ellen video categories, including cats, kids, funny, incredible, trending, celebrity scares and Heads Up!, based on the app created by the show last year.

Videos uploaded by fans will be reviewed by the Ellen team before posting and could be considered for possible showcase on upcoming episodes of Ellen.

"What makes our site different than any other place is that if you accidentally type in a wrong word, you're not going to stumble upon something that's bad or mean or something like that," DeGeneres said when announcing Ellentube on Thursday's show. "You know how that can happen. So everything on the site is fun, and there is nothing mean-spirited."

The website comes from Ellen Digital Ventures, a new initiative formed in partnership with Warner Bros.

Said Darnell: "With the creation of Ellentube, she is putting all of that incredible video content in one Ellen-friendly place, giving her viewers and fans a place to post their content and be part of her community."

DeGeneres already has a strong online video presence, with more than 10 million subscribers to her YouTube channel and more than 100 million monthly page views to EllenTV.com. Ellen also boasts a broad social presence, with 33 million Twitter followers and 16 million Facebook likes.
