Users of the 2012 flagship Samsung Galaxy S3 can now install Android Kitkat 4.4.4 via custom firmware as report from IBTimes.

It also added that, the SlimROM custom firmware features SlimROM brings in features such as Privacy Guard, SlimPie, Slim Recent App and a lot more.

According to the GSM Arena's list of specs for the phone, the latest and official update made available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean that rolled out three months ago. But thanks to custom Android firmware developers who created the SlimROM, it is now possible to install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on the S3.

Here's a step by step guide to download install 4.4.4 Kitkat on Samsung Galaxy S3 from IB Times.

1. Use this custom firmware to the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 international only.

2. Root the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 and install a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod.

3. Manually backup all data files and personal settings on the smartphone.

4. Battery level should be at least 70 per cent to avoid power interruption during installation.

5. Enable the USB debugging mode on the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.

6. Download and install the necessary USB drivers on the computer for Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.

7. Download the SlimROM Android 4.4.4 KitKat and the Slim Google Apps zip files on the computer.

To avoid power interruption issues when installing Android 4.4.4 KitKat update viaSlimROM, it is advisable that the battery level is at least 80 percent. Samsung Galaxy S3 users also need to make sure that the appropriate USB drivers are already installed on the computer so the Android device can easily connect to the PC.
