With Honey Boo Boo canceled for a very surreal reason, what's next for the family that is centered in the show is to battle more external and internal problems. June Shannon, the mother of reality star Alana, was accused of having a relationship with a registered offender who victimized her other daughter Anna Marie Caldwell. Mama June has denied the allegations but the father of her daughters, Sugar Bear is taking full precaution anyway. That is by seeking full custody of Alana.
The Daily Mail reported that Sugar Bear, known as Mike Thompson in real life, is 'worried sick' that Alana has already made contact with Mark McDaniel, a registered sex offender who is allegedly in a relationship with Mama June. This detail was revealed by Thompson's friend Tony Lindsay who also appeared in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo during its first season run.
'Mike is all over the place and is distraught that his daughter has had contact with a sex offender,' Lindsay told in an interview.
'He wants her out of that environment and knows the only way to do that is to get custody.'
The battle will be difficult for Sugar Bear though because while Mama June made profit in Here Comes the Honey Boo Boo before cancellation, he has no financial source to support the legal proceedings.
'June has all the money, and he has not seen any of it. He will have to sue for custody and June will not give her up.
'I genuinely worry for the future of that family. Before the show they had nothing, and they are going to end up with nothing.'
Meanwhile, a Facebook page and a petition have been set up for the reinstatement of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo on TV. However, Mama June will be out and will be replaced by Sugar Bear. The online petition is called "Give Sugar Bear and Poodle their own show," while the Facebook page is Make TLC Keep Honey Boo Boo.
The petition said:
"Giving Sugar bear and poodle their own show will keep the show going and not allow other stars in the show to be punished for one cast member's actions. Sugar bear has gone above and beyond expectations of any man and father in raising not only his child but others as well, he was publically humilated continiously by the cast member which caused the honey boo boo show to become canceled. Fans of the show wish to see a spin off show for Sugar bear and Poodle. TLC, give the public what they want. "
