Marvel studio Head & producer Kevin Feige revealed in an on-set interview with BuzzFeed that the current lineup of Earth's mightiest heroes will be "altered" at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins. It's like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was. I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the [Avengers] roster is altered by the finale of this film."
This confirmation directly feeds into earlier rumors that suggested Avengers 3 will feature an entirely new lineup of characters.
It was earlier believed that Marvel is planning an epic event in Avengers 3 that could be either Civil War or Infinity Gauntlet. But the studio later announced that Robert Downey Jr. will star as Tony Stark in Captain America 3, directly launching the Marvel's Civil War story line on the big screen.
The main plot of Civil War follows Cap & Tony stark divided over the Superhero Registration Act, which forces anyone with super-human abilities to register themselves with the government, and agree to be a part of a new police force.
The ramifications & aftermath of this feud between Superheroes are huge & will definitely affect future Marvel stories as it did in the comics.
At this moment, it's uncertain how much the Avengers lineup will change but the first trailer of Age of Ultron did hint at plenty of animosity within the Superheroes.
However, it looks like we won't have to wait too long for official confirmation, as Marvel have a one-hour press conference scheduled for tomorrow, on 29th Oct
Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to theaters May 1st, 2015 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.
