The Doctor Strange movie kept comics fans on the edge of their seats following the announcement of Marvel president Kevin Peige that the company will produce a number of movies including the Silver Age superhero. The geeky world is probably rejoicing right now as Doctor Strange movie cast Benedict Cumberbatch is reportedly close to getting the highly contested role. The Sherlock actor was the overwhelming top choice to portray the Sorcerer Supreme according to the internet. Although it is yet to be confirmed, several sources say the Sherlock actor is the obvious choice for the Doctor Strange role. Other actors considered are Johnny Depp, Pedro Pascal, Jim Caviezel, Viggo Mortensen, and more. Fans are getting more treat though as Marvel confirmed that the Doctor Strange movie will hit theaters in a not too distant future.
Hours after reports wrote about Cumberbatch about to land the role in Doctor Strange movie, Marvel confirmed that it will be shown on cinemas on November 4, 2016. The Comicbook.com wrote about the Doctor Strange movie release date:
"Doctor Strange was created for Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Doctor Strange first appeared in Strange Tales #110 in July of 1963. In the comic books, Doctor Strange is a former neurosurgeon, who becomes Sorcerer Supreme, the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.
In making the announcement, Marvel Studios also revealed that the Doctor Strange movie would be released on November 4, 2016."
The Doctor Strange movie was first confirmed by entertainment website Deadline.com via an exclusive scoop. It said:
"Marvel has finally found its Doctor Strange. I'm hearing Benedict Cumberbatch is the studio's choice for the superhero pic, and negotiations are about to begin. The news comes after talks with Joaquin Phoenix around the time of Comic-Con went south, and Marvel went back to the drawing board. With names like Jared Leto and Tom Hardy also in the mix, this is obviously a coveted role. I expect this deal to make."
In April of this year, Feige told Empire Magazine that Doctor Strange movie will be a doorway into Marvel's supernatural world.
"We've always been very interested in this aspect and this is going back to the early days of Strange Tales with Steve Ditko and Stan Lee. I love that stuff. We haven't done anything that mind-trippy yet and for me, Doctor Strange is our doorway into that."
